EBC Trek Difficulty

Is your dream to climb Everest, but you’re worried that you aren’t able to do it? Well, you are not alone! One of the common questions people ask is, ‘Am I able to do this?’

So just how difficult is the EBC Trek? Well one of the best things about the Everest Base Camp trek, is that it does not require any technical climbing. So, therefore, we can confidently say that as long as you have a basic level of fitness – and of course the right attitude – then you are able to complete this trek. Yes – no matter what your weight or age, as long as you are fully trained and prepared, you can enjoy the entire route!

However, there are a few crucial factors that you should make sure to consider before embarking on the EBC trekking route:

  • Training: While there may be no technical climbing on this route, it is still a difficult trek. So it is vital that you undergo appropriate training before embarking on the journey.
  • Altitude: With a peak altitude of 8,848 m, it takes time to become accustomed to the altitude when doing this trek. Make sure to be prepared by taking appropriate medication and precautions.
  • Length of the Trek: Everest base camp trek commences after your arrival at Lukla via a flight from Kathmandu. Later on, you have to trek for 65 kilometers to the base camp of the almighty Mount Everest, before returning back via the same route. So it is essential to make sure that you have experience undertaking treks of this length.
